The Mayor Returns – Ottawa Citizen
by Jan Yuill
The Ottawa Citizen reported today on Ottawa’s Mayor, Larry O’Brien’s acquittal on two criminal charges of purported influence-peddling …
“I think this is a good day for Ottawa,” he said. “Certainly, it’s been a good day for me, but there are a lot of people who are very happy that the judgment came down the way it did.”
Despite the one-sided verdict, neither O’Brien or Edelson offered any recriminations for the prosecution.
“I think I could waste a lot of energy by pursuing that,” O’Brien said. “I’m the mayor of Ottawa. I’ve got to get back to work.”
Thank you, Mr. O’Brien, for taking the high road.
