An article on the Internet Business Income Opportunity website says that “leadership assessment is probably one of the most important things that can be done to ensure companies, sports teams, and any other leadership oriented team is running efficiently, effectively, and to the best of their ability.”
As much as I have worked in leadership assessment and development, I must admit that I do not see it as a cornerstone of business success anymore. I must get that article on ‘The Trouble with Competencies’ written.
But for starters, who will does leadership assessment? Is it the leaders? Rarely are they even involved. Usually, it is assigned to the training and development function, where the emphasis is on learning, not necessarily leadership.
Oh, this is a loaded topic.
