Two by Two Models
by Jan Yuill
In response to a recent ODNET message on 2×2 models …
Two by two models are very powerful. I have known and loved many along the way. ‘Jo and Hari’s’ can be added to the list. As well as one that I had developed for assertiveness training a long time ago.
Personally, I think it has a lot to do with the power of four – four basic elements (earth, air, fire, water), four points on the compass, X and Y axis/graphs, four seasons, … four legs on a chair (oh, I am digressing).
As some of you know, the Organizations Alive! Model is built on a 2×2. It goes beyond the grid and into the interfaces between the four factors. These interfaces are where we spend most of our time as OD consultants, managers, project leaders, etc. etc.
